LIVING WATER

Speaking to a group of students about the need to collaborate to help people have access to water globally

I want to talk to you today about the word wisdom. You know, the Bible has an entire book that is dedicated to this subject. It's the book that I'm gonna be focusing on for the foreseeable future. It is really the foundation of a successful life. If you're gonna be successful in your life, you're gonna have to accumulate wisdom. And what are we talking about when we talk about wisdom? Well, what are we talking about when we're talking about success? Well, ultimately, you're gonna have to think very hard about what success means for you.

First, God has a specific success blueprint for your life that you're gonna have to pray a lot and talk with him a lot about. I put mine right up here behind me on every video. You know, if you're gonna follow someone or you're gonna listen to someone, you should really know what it is they're aiming for. You should know their scoreboard so you can decide if you want to align with whatever it is they're sharing or they're teaching. So I'm very upfront about that. I put it literally in every video so there's no confusion.

Now, when we talk about wisdom, what is it that we're talking about? So first of all, the Bible describes wisdom as a skill. You know, if you're gonna be successful in your life,

you're gonna need to develop your skill. Now, the Bible talks a lot about developing our skill, especially in the Book of Proverbs. In fact, Proverbs was written so that we could acquire wisdom. So I wanted to find that.

Secondly, wisdom is administration. You're gonna need some wisdom to get organized correctly in your life. You know, a lot of times we think about living life, but a lot of us don't think about how to organize our life. Another word is how to architect our life so that we can be successful. So you're gonna need to develop some skill. You're gonna need to develop some administration. You're gonna need to get organized if you're gonna be successful in your life.

Third you're gonna need to develop an understanding of the word shrewdness. When do you exercise shrewdness? Or another word for it is leverage. When do you exercise leverage? When do you exercise this word shrewdness? Because there's some wisdom in there. Next up, you're gonna need to develop some prudence. Wisdom means prudence. Another word for this is the word discretion. When do you exercise discretion? Discretion is not always saying everything that you know, not always saying everything that you think. So gonna need some skill, gonna need some administration. We're gonna need some shrewdness. We're gonna need some prudence.

And then wisdom also carries with it the idea of ethics. Now what's interesting to me, a lot of people believe in God, but not a lot of people believe in godly ethics. Now to follow God means you will manifest godly ethics. So we're gonna talk a lot about what it means to develop godly ethics in our life.

So just an overview of wisdom. Wisdom means skill, wisdom of administration, shrewdness, prudence, and ethics. Now over the next 50 teachings I'm gonna be praying that we will all develop this skill of wisdom in our life. In my life, I have yet to encounter a year where really we have more information than we have ever had in our life. In fact, in about eight seconds, if you know the right question to ask, you can get an answer. So we have access to information and access to knowledge, but wisdom's really that missing piece because wisdom is the practical application of knowledge. So we don't really have an information problem anymore. We have more access to it than we've ever had, but we do have an application of information problem, and that's where God wants to help us develop wisdom.

In fact, right now we can very humbly pray, Lord, even right now, would you begin to give me your wisdom, the proper application of all of this information that I interact with on a daily basis. And if you have that humility in your heart, God will come right now and he will help you.

Thanks for tuning in today. Until next time, I hope you have a beautiful day.
