FAITHFULNESS AND HOW IT RELATES TO CONFIDENCE - GALATIANS 5:22-23

I want to talk to you today about faithfulness from Galatians 5:22, perhaps the most misunderstood of the fruit of the Spirit. So we want to dive right in today.

What does it mean to exhibit faithfulness as a manifestation of the fruit of God working in us and through us in our lives? So, okay, so the first thing that this word means is that it's a conviction of the truth of anything. So from faithfulness births this conviction from the inside that things are true and they are right. This is different than having an idea. This is different than having a belief. This is something that you hold strong on the inside of your being. So it's a conviction.

The second thing that faithfulness is, is it generally is included with the idea of trust. So what it means is that you are confident that the things that God has told you about your life, what he's going to do in it and through it are going to happen. Now if you haven't written down already some promises for things that God has told you in your life, I highly recommend that you do it. I have them written right here on my wall in my garage where I work from. I've written down many things that God has spoken to me about in times of prayer throughout my life. Most of them I don't talk about in public. I just hold on to them. They're between myself and God and I just keep believing that he's going to do those things that I know in times of worship and times of prayer that he has spoken to me. I recommend that you do the same because you want to have some trust in your life with the things that God's going to do in your life.

So the third thing is it's the conviction that God exists. So it's this conviction you're not wondering if God's going to come through for you. You know that you know that you know that he's going to show up on his timing and his timing is perfect. So it's this trust that in God's perfect timing he is going to do what he said he was going to do. And then

The fourth thing is the conviction or belief that Jesus is the Messiah. So Jesus wasn't just a good teacher a person an idea a manifestation. Jesus was God in the flesh. He came to make all the wrongs right in the world including our sin and everything that's broken. All of our trust is in Jesus Christ. OK so the fifth thing is that it's the predominant idea of confidence. If you're wondering where your confidence comes from as a believer it's rooted in God's faithfulness and our trust in God's faithfulness. So when we're confident that God is who he says he is when we're confident that God's going to do what he has told us he's going to do in those private moments of prayer and worship those things that you write down those things that you hold on to completely changes your life because then life becomes am I going to hold on to the things that God has dropped in my heart. You know God's dropped a lot of things in my heart over the years most of which I've kept to myself. I encourage you to do the same to just simply hold on to the things that you know that God has told you he's going to do in your life. And so God is faithful and because

God is faithful we can then put our confidence and put our trust and then we allow our faithfulness to line up with God's faithfulness. You see we're not manufacturing it we're just following it we're just saying God I'm going to be faithful to you because I know you're faithful. So then life becomes about enduring troubles enduring hardship with the confidence and with the trust that God is going to do the things that he promised to us in our personal prayer and worship time that he was going to do in and through our life. Okay and then the last thing is it's the character of one who can be relied on. You see we're faithful to God because he's faithful. God never changes. In fact the Bible describes God as the same yesterday today and forever. So because God never changes he's the same yesterday today and forever we can put our confidence we can put our trust we can be faithful to his faithfulness.

So thanks so much for watching. I'm going to put a link in the description below to the other videos in the fruit of the spirit and until tomorrow I'll see you next time.
